Support Planning and Brokerage Service

Support Planning and Brokerage

SPECTRUM has over 30 years experience of helping people to secure the support they need to live their lives independently.

Whether you are receiving a Personal Budget, Direct Payments, or paying for your own care and support, our knowledgeable, friendly advisors can help you to understand what your support options are, and support you to choose what is best for you. If needed, they can then help with purchasing support from an agency, or recruiting your own support staff.

Who can benefit from Support Planning and Brokerage?

We provide a Support Planning and Brokerage service to people receiving Direct Payments and Personal Health Budgets, as well as self-funders – anywhere in the UK. Whatever your circumstances, we will help you to plan and secure the support you need to make the best use of the funds available.

What is a support plan?

A support plan is a document that sets out what your support will cost and how you will use your funds to pay for your care and support and meet your needs. You must have a say about what goes into your plan, although your local authority has to agree it.

A Support Plan usually covers things like:

• What your support needs are
• What changes you want to make in your life
• What is important to you and what you want to achieve
• How you will spend the money to get the support you want
• Any back-up or emergency support arrangements to make sure you are not left without support when you need it

There are lots of different ways of making a support plan, and everyone’s support plan will be different because everyone has their own personal needs, goals and preferences.

If you use our service to help you draw up a Support Plan we talk to you to find out and understand about you, what you need, and things you like or don’t like.

Once we have done that, we will look at what support you might find helpful and advise you on the best options available to meet your needs.
We can also liaise with your Social Worker to make sure your Support Plan matches any assessment you have had.

What is brokerage?

Once you have a Support Plan we can, if you want us to, research what options are available to you and help you to purchase or arrange any support you need. This can be through care agencies, paid staff, or by linking you to social networks or education or training opportunities.

We have a wealth of knowledge about what support is available and can source a wide range of services from different places to suit exactly what you want.
