Replacement care

This consultation is about the way Southampton City Council plan to provide replacement (respite) care in the future. Replacement care was known as respite care. Respite care was often provided for both the cared for person and the carer. This usually used one or two types of services. The Care Act has made it clearer that replacement care should be provided to replace the care given by the unpaid carer to enable them to have a break. In the future we want to be clearer about why we are providing replacement care. We also want to make sure we provide replacement care in a fair and consistent manner to carers. Currently it is provided very differently to different people.

The consultation is running until Friday 8 April 2016.
