The Disability Manifesto

SPECTRUM has been working with the South East Network of Disabled People’s Organisations (SENDPO) to produce a General Election 2015 Disability Manifesto on behalf of Disabled People in the South East.

We believe it is essential for Disabled People’s voices to be heard in the debates around the 2015 General Election – not only because they represent a large number of votes but, more importantly, because they are deeply affected by so many of the key issues at the heart of political debate.

The ‘Disability Manifesto’ sets out what we – as Disabled People, citizens and voters – believe to be the key issues in the 2015 General Election and what commitments we would like to see from our Political Parties. Access to Work

SPECTRUM have been working with Disability Rights UK and a campaign group including Business Disability Forum, British Deaf Association, Inclusion London, Action on Disability and Work, Essex Coalition of Disabled People, GRAEAE, South East Network of Disabled People’s Organisations and Universal Inclusion to lobby Government to tackle widespread problems caused by recent changes to the Access to Work programme, which supports Disabled People to work.

We are seeking a commitment to doubling the numbers using Access to Work over 3 years and to significantly improve the programme.

We have produced a short report making our case and bringing together stories from Deaf and Disabled People who have been affected by the problems with Access to Work. You can read or download a copy here
